Puppy Recovery vs. Superbowl Weekend

Hey Beautiful people,

Thanks for my car booster seat granny!

Time for an update! Super Bowl 2012 has come and gone! My New York Jets weren’t playing so I only watched it for the cool commercials J. I originally had plans to go out with my twin sis but this plan failed miserably when we realized puppy Bailey had a #niptuckspay appointment the day before Super Bowl Sunday (my bad…). My closest friends know that Bailey is my “puppy child,” and since I don’t have any children… she’s spoiled rotten! My sis became “Auntie” (against her will J) and she cares for puppy just as much as I do. So after surgery, our poor puppy was down for the count and there was no way we were leaving her “home alone” while we go out to flirt and get tipsy. So my MOM hooked us up and packed up some Super Bowl snacks “to go"….Delicious. In addition, she hooked up her “grand puppy” with a new car booster seat, it’s so adorable and the best thing ever created…don’t judge me...safety first! Caring for my puppy is my responsibility and so I had to skip the SinglenFab social event of the weekend.

Although I have no particular social plans for the rest of February I am in the process of planning my "Birthday Shenanigans" for the month of March. My twin sis is always down for whatever! The challenge is planning around my work schedule and her work schedule!  I’m entertaining different ideas but haven’t made any definite decisions yet. Feel free to give your suggestions for Saturday/Sunday/Monday or Tuesday nights! I love lounges and cool dinner spots. I’m “boughetto” so think “classy but fun”!

I’m semi-ready for My Birthday Celebration:

 Birthday venue…HELP!

A Black & White Affair…Happy Birthday Bruce!

Hey Beautiful people,

I have two Blog posts in one week…aren’t you proud of me! ;) Well I am happy to report that I had a great week!
I’m soooo excited to tell you about my Saturday night as I took off work to attend this event. My sister and I have been looking forward to this Elegant Birthday Celebration for months and it finally took place last night!
Welcome to “The Dirty 30’s” Bruce Elijah Gaines.
Resheda & Ricky Rozay, lol
To give you a brief history I met Bruce at Bally’s Fitness in hip hop class when he was in his mere 20’s. When I tell you he could “pop, lock and drop it” better than me I was floored and knew I was getting too old for this shit, lol. But as a result we became friends and he has been my younger brother from another mother ever since. Every year we celebrate our birthdays and it is mandatory that we attend each other’s events! For 2012, Bruce’s goal was to “Set It Off”. My sister and I received a tri-fold invitation in the mail that looked like someone was getting married, lol. We were instructed to RSVP and from the looks of the invite come with class and style to an address located in Beverly Hills.
Now, I love to dress up and attend a great party…therefore my mission was to get a dress that represented ME…and make my brother proud! One of many things my brother and I have in common is that we love to go shopping and we have great taste in clothes! I had a few boutique stores in mind but they HAD to meet 3 criteria’s: have the style of dress I’m looking for, have reasonable prices and be able to cover these thick thighs ;) My first stop was Philthy Ragz in Inglewood, CA. This husband and wife team made me feel comfortable and immediately provided me with several dresses, but only 1 met the criteria for the
Black and White Birthday theme.

Once I tried the dress on I was In Love and it was a done deal.

My little black dress!
Don’t sleep on this boutique shop I will be going back! I already had my blinged out stiletto shoes and now I have my dress! Now all I needed were accessories! Saturday I was on a mission…after going to Del Amo Mall with no luck and then South Bay Galleria it came down to the wire and the newly remodeled Forever 21 possessed the necklace and earrings perfect for my outfit!

Back out baby!
So I get home around 5pm and start panicking…maybe I’m doing too much…what if I’m overdressed…maybe I should try to wear something different, a little bit more casual…my sister tried to talk some sense into me but it didn’t work we started pulling items from my closet trying to put more casual outfits together... It didn’t work. I came full circle and decided… oh what the hell, I bought the dress I might as well wear it…it is sooo ME, I have to represent! Of course my sister gave me the "I told you so look...Now we are running late...Get dressed already!"
I love my stilettos!
My sister made our ensembles complete by “beating our faces” (aka – doing flawless make-up) and having us both wear fur coats!

Upon arriving at the venue Sfixio Restaurant in Beverly Hills we were greeted by paparazzi for Red Carpet photos, we were escorted to our VIP table upstairs on the balcony, the Birthday Man made his grand entrance in his internationally custom made Red pea coat with exaggerated lapels, we proceeded to enjoy a 4 course meal with music playing in the background and enjoyed his a delicious cake from Hansens.

Sidebar- Oh did I mention by brother has his MSW degree, is a hustla working 2 to 3 jobs and as a result was Ballin out of control for his birthday: He rented out the venue, the Dinner was included and there was an Open Bar! Winning!

Bruce's Delicious cake!
The event was FLAWLESS! It was my pleasure to be a special guest at
Bruce’s 30th Birthday Celebration. Love you Brother!

Taco Tuesday...Finally!

Hey Beautiful People,

I finally got the chance to go to Taco Tuesday earlier this week.
We were celebrating my girl Bridget’s Birthday!

Sharinna on the left and Bridget on the right!

I got a text from my girl Sharinna saying meet up at the Savoy in Inglewood on Tuesday for 2 for 1 drink’s and $1 tacos from 6pm to 8pm. That sounded like a plan because I’ve been trying to get to Taco Tuesday ever since I started this new work schedule! Now everyone who knows me (and reads this blog) knows that I am not a fan of the Savoy. Sorry but it’s not my type of crowd, ya’ll know they a little bit Older up in that camp. But for a “special occasion” my friend’s birthday party I felt inclined to go! Besides what’s the worst that could happen…LOL. Well thank goodness nothing bad happened…..outside of 2 guys my daddy’s age trying to ask me to dance.

One reserved table was already taken care of but we needed a little bit more room for our Ego’s (because We Like To Party), so our boy Carl was able to work his “hood magic” (lol) and “steal” a table so that ALL the Ladies were able to sit together and enjoy the night.
Sidebar- every sitting area in the Savoy was “Reserved”. If you weren’t there for a party there was no place for a person to sit down, you were forced to stand L boo, not cool (it wasn’t like that before, when I last went ages ago:) but when there is a way to get over on the Inglewood locals who support your establishment so you can make an extra dolla??… (dripping sarcasm)…don’t be surprised. Okay so I got over that pet peeve quickly.

I have to give it to the Savoy: great old school music, delicious tacos and drinks for $5’s forced me to have a GOOD TIME! Now granted, someone was at home MAD at me because she was home babysitting my “puppy” but mama was trying to enjoy herself a little bit longer so we headed over to The Game Sports Bar and Grill, also in Inglewood, to switch it up. We all know I don’t get out much anymore so I was trying to take advantage of every minute!

Alright, Alright, Alriiiiiiight! Now this crowd was an improvement to my standards. Closer to my age, with some swag, real friendly and not afraid to compliment a sister. I only stayed for a brief period of time but I was impressed by the music, karaoke and nice looking guys. I look forward to going back to The GAME with one stipulation: We (the ladies) must get there right when Taco Tuesday- Happy Hour starts so we can get good seats, commence to flirt and shut that bad boy down! That includes my Adventures for Tuesday night but stay tuned...

Celebrating Bruce's Dirty 30th Birthday this weekend…more  FUN to come!Until next time…

NYE 2012

Hi Beautiful people,

Happy New Year! 2012 is here and in full effect. Unfortunately, I was working on New Year’s Eve. However my co-worker and I were optimistic that it would be a slow night and we planned to go out afterwards.
I had two options: a short black dress with criss-cross back out or long maroon one shoulder dress with bling’d out open toe stilettos.
My new favorite pair of shoes...My Cinderella stilettos!

Of course the night was active and we were working hard. A lot of people didn’t show up for work (I can’t stand inconsiderate people) and we ended up working longer than we expected. My only alternative was to post Happy New Year on Facebook and head back to the office.
I still had hope and I wanted to think that maybe I could get out of the office by 1:30am dressed to the nine. So I brought  my “chosen” outfit and my packed tote bag into the office…Uh No. I found out my co-worker was still working on a more difficult case and both of us didn’t leave the office until 3:30am. No NYE celebration for us!

I sacrificed yesterday night only to be ready to celebrate NYE 2013 next year, as the holiday will fall on my “off days” J…. I had to turn this negative into a positive!
I’m sooo looking forward to this new year because there are several upcoming events I am preparing to attend and I am motivated to make some changes in my life. . I feel “So Fresh”! So naturally I need a new “Look” to match my new attitude. New hairdo…coming soon ;)

I see nothing but positive things in my future so let the Fun begin!

Stay tuned as The Adventures continue….Smooches!

Sunday…Girls Night Out

Hey Beautiful People,

Okay so I went out on Sunday with my Sis…Girls Night Out was way Overdue! We were celebrating “Happy Birthday Ahmad” at Yen Sushi in Culver City. Sunday night Happy Hour and Karaoke what a great combination – the Karaoke participants were hilarious! The sushi was delicious and the drinks were on point. It was a nice crowd of people but a little crowded in the lounge area by the bar…early arrival suggested. The good news was that my friend moved the party to a bigger room, but I missed out because the “so-called” bouncer irritated me and claimed the area we were sitting in was Reserved after we had been sitting there for about 3 hours.  I can’t tolerate BS and I took that as my cue to leave.
Happy Birthday Ahmad
Sidebar- if I were just a little more patient I would have been able to go to the Reserved birthday room, but I wasn’t patient and as a result I missed out…my bad!
Sorry but I prefer not to stand at a crowded bar and I refuse to stand in a line to get into a Club. I’m Grown and So Over It! If I’m going to a Lounge…then I need to be able to lounge and they need to be able to accommodate me and my guests. Looks like I’m going to be upgrading to some “new” venues in the future so I can expand my social horizon.

Overall, I was soooo happy I got the chance to dress up “Like a Lady”. So you know I had to come with it: threw on my sweater dress, wedge boots, make-up, eyelashes, lip gloss and I had to walk that walk! I’m looking for a man who can Talk that Talk! No luck tonight but I had fun anywhoo!

Unfortunately, I’m going to miss out on my friend’s upcoming Birthday Celebration this Friday at the SLS hotel L and I’m so mad about it! That’s a spot I need to make an appearance at!

Sidebar - Why is it when I didn’t have this “After Hours” job I had nowhere to go…but now that I take on these new work hours I get invitations to Everything!!!
Well, I’m working on being creative with my Free time/Off Days in the new year 2012… I can’t keep listening to ADELE on heavy rotation (as much as I love her CD 21 :)!!

I am SingleNFabulous and We Like to Partaaaaaay!!! Until next time…Smooches

Facebook Pet Peeves

Me and my Twin/Best Friend
Hi Beautiful people,

I’m back and ready to vent. As you all know my “new” work schedule hasn’t allowed me to do much “mixing and mingling” during my free time but I’m okay with it…for now ;) Although I haven’t been going out I’ve still been keeping up with the social networking scene. I just wanted to express that I think Facebook is a great social networking site however it is not a place where people need to tell “All” their business. Listed below is my own “personal opinion” regarding what I’ve seen posted on Facebook News feeds.

Let’s review “My Facebook Pet Peeves”:

·         I don’t need to see your sonogram on facebook.

·         I don’t need to see all these damn self portraits of yourself, that’s just vain.

·         If you are promoting your business on every other post, you might want to choose another line of work.

·         The excessive profanity is just not mature.

·         My condolences to you and your family… but posting a death of a family member is just inappropriate. R.I.P.s is acceptable.

·         If you are working out in the gym…post the “After” pictures because we really don’t need to see the “before” pics. Thank you

·         Ask someone for permission before you tag them at a location.

·         Please review your pictures before you post every single one of them because some of them don’t need to be posted.

·         Long ass facebook posts…keep it to a minimum!

·         I don’t need to know the details of what you ate for breakfast, lunch and/or dinner menu! Holiday meals are an exception.

I’m not trying to offend anyone I just need you to think twice about what you post for the world to see! If anyone would like to add to this list feel free J (men are welcome to comment as well).

In the meantime, I’m earning my stripes at work and sacrificing my personal life until I’ve earned my new found freedom ;) that may result in a more flexible schedule in the future!

Although the Adventures may be delayed…they will continue…as I am still Single N Fabulous! Smooches

Giving Thanks....

Hi Beautiful people,

It's that time of year when families come together to relax, reminisce and eat delicious food. I love Thanksgiving and Christmas Holidays. It is this time of year that brings family together when our every day lives sometimes get in the way. Thanksgiving Dinner was delicious, thanks MOM. Meeting up with the fam bam at Big Mama's house was great too (and long overdue)! Christmas breakfast will be at Nessa's house, I can't wait! I am soooo thankful to have my family, friends, co-workers and loved ones in my life! I am a firm believer that everyone comes into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime. It's up to you to determine their role in your life.

This year is coming to an end and I am looking forward to the New Year 2012. Change is inevitable and I am thankful that my life is evolving and has given me the opportunity to experience new things. I have big plans for 2012: My personal goals are to save to buy a home and educate myself on "eating clean" to embrace a healthier lifestyle. I am also looking forward to attending a friend's wedding in Jamaica, my family reunion in New York and a Girls Trip to Miami.

In the meantime, I continue to remain patient as I know my "soulmate" is out there  somewhere. I understand that I must be in a good space in order to make someone else happy. In the meantime, I will focus on my own personal growth and pray someone will come into my life who holds the same interests and values as myself. So until that happens...we must Keep the Party Going...LOL.

Just because my work schedule has changed does not mean I can't socialize, it just means I must be creative! The Adventures of Single and Fabulous continues...Smooches

Happy Holiday's Everyone!
