MLK 3 Day Weekend - Saturday Night, Part I

Hey Beautiful People,

I hope everyone had a GREAT Martin Luther King 3-Day Holiday Weekend….
Because I had a BLAST! This Blog was so long I had to break it down into 3 Parts!
Why you ask???? Because it was THE BEST 3 day weekend I've had so far.... in 2013!

My 20 Year High School Reunion Committee planned a Fundraiser on Saturday Night
“The C/O 93 Alumni Bowling Fundraiser” involving high school rivals
Morningside H.S. vs. Inglewood H.S.
Of Course I couldn’t miss this event so I took the night off from work to participate!

 Saturday Night –
MHS vs. IHS Bowling Fundraiser at El Dorado Lanes.
(L-R) Phoenix, Tabara, Tenisha and Me!

This fundraising event was the GREAT idea of MHS Alumnae and the home girl Ms. Tenisha G.! Surprisingly, MHS c/o 93 Alumni showed up in “full effect” and I was so proud of them for coming out to represent our school. In addition, we had MHS Alumnus Armmond G. fly out from the Bay area with his own bowling balls and shoes to get the competition crackin! We also had out boy Rod Wynn representin MHS Alumni showin Inglewood how it's done! My girl and MHS Alumnae Lashawn F. was holding down the front desk working her butt off collecting the money and hustlin’ the raffle tickets. I did what I do best.....played Paparazzi all night so we can have the photos to show how the C/O 93 Makes It Happen! The rest of the MHS Reunion Committee was on the Lanes rolling STRIKES to make sure we put it down during the competition… and of course WE WON!

Shout Out to ALL MHS and IHS Alumni who came out to
participate and support this event!

SIDE PRIDE !!!
ALL DAY, EVERY DAY!

Miss Lashawn

Now out of all the people that showed up to rep they school Inglewood H.S. had a cutie pie come out and chill with us for a minute. But the guys were so focused on buying drinks they didn’t even notice the women peepin them out! I even lo-key got a picture of him ( I walked up and asked for it) but still I Got No Love! Well I guess it wasn’t meant to be L….I didn’t check for a ring…for all I know he could have been married, LOL. Maybe we will cross paths next time....We still have more fundraisers to plan...You never know!

Sidebar - Of course I didn’t get home until 11:30pm after Bowling night only to stay up even later to pick out my outfit for the next day, pin curl my hair and prepare the camera
so I can get up at 7am to drive to Santa Barbara.
Needless to say I went to bed at 2:00am…Bad Idea!

Fit & Fabulous in 2013

Hi Beautiful People,

First and foremost I'd like to thank all my Fab followers for coming along with me on this ride! I've found that writing this Blog has been very therapeutic for me. I'd like to thank my little sister of - www.Majormusthaves.com for guiding me in this direction!

Unfortunately, since I am STILL Single, LOL, I have to find other things to do in my free time. So...I figured that since I am Single N Fabulous my goal in 2013 is to be Fit and Fabulous too! I'd also like to thank my girl friend Taunya Taylor Fitness (on Facebook) for being so supportive. She's heard all my excuses, has seen me start and then stop and heard me try all the different "loose weight quick" schemes, LOL, but through all of that she still encourages me to find what works for me! She just started a Team Beachbody Reset program that I wish I could do but I can't make the commitment yet because of my work schedule and budget...but this is not to say I won't be ready in the near future! Has anyone noticed that Eating healthy is Expensive???!!!

At first I was going to try Eating Clean and then realized that, that lifestyle is Waaaay out of my league, LOL. So I've committed to Weight Watchers instead because I am not happy with THIS Body! ;)

Please understand that I am doing this for ME!

Since I don't have any children my guilty pleasure is Shopping!! However, if I can't fit into a pair of tight jeans or cute top that I like, WE (me, myself and I) have a Problem! Since I began to notice  my clothes were starting to feel tight, and I REFUSE to buy larger sizes, loosing weight became my Only Option!!! I also received my Victoria Secret 2013 Swimsuit Catalog in the mail and can you say Motivation! I'm trying to look like one of those Skinny Bitches but with Curves, Lmao!

What convinced me to join Weight Watchers (WW) was a friend at work who stated she was doing great on the weight loss program and mentioned what helped her a lot was the iPhone app. WHAAAT? They have an APP?? That's all you had to say!!! Conveniently, I get a WW's flyer in the mail right before the new year and they had a special going with no sign-up fee. I  registered for the online program and paid three months in advance. I thought this was a great deal and what better time to make a committment then right before the New Year! Now all I have to do is be CONSISTENT! My goal is to cook as many simple meals as possible. Translation - my twin sis Keesha will be "burning" in the kitchen, lol, because I'm always at work...thank goodness we have different work schedules :p. Then I need to have as many fruit and veggie snacks on me at all times. Now drinking a lot of water is going to be the hard part.  I will try to drink as much water as I can before I go to work because there is nothing like a social worker in the field trying to investigate on a full bladder. You try finding a "decent" bathroom at 2:00am in the morning...it ain't cute or comfortable, lol. Lastly, temptations are going to be the most difficult. I haven't been able to give up on sweets all together so what I've been doing is accepting very small pieces of cake or ice cream just to satisfy that craving.

I'm so proud of ME! I never thought I would be able to do it. But the Point System helps because you become extremely aware of what you are eating and how many points it's worth so that you stay within the points allowed for the day. I've never been so motivated until now. I needed some form of structure and guidance and I finally found something that works for me!

Now lets talk, The Kanye West Workout Plan!
I have a membership at one of the best Gym's Ever - UFC baby

Part of me goes because the Instructors are so supportive; they want you to loose weight; they want to see you reach your goal and they genuinely LOVE their jobs! The other part of me loves looking at the Men training to fight in the Muay Thai and Kick Boxing Classes. I know there are some FINE men at my gym but I just haven't met them yet ;)

My Fabulous UFC - Zumba Instructor Mychele!!! This is what I have to look forward to when I go to the GYM. She helps me burn MAD calories in 2 classes on Sunday's - Hot Fusion (old school    hip hop class) and Zumba!!! I will be adding a U-JAM class in the near future. I have no reason NOT to be skinny!!! See her "Live and In Living Color" at www.get2werk.com

I'm also going to start walking/hiking with friends to get out and exercise more. Thanks Timika for taking me to my first Trail at Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook in Culver City!
But remember baby steps...I ain't Flo Jo (R.I.P.)... My body aint what it use to be! When I graduate to the Advanced trails I will call my girls Ashley and Sam and they will guide me through those Beautiful Hills & Mountains!

Now all I have to do is figure out how to stay Consistent with my crazy work schedule! No Excuses in 2013! I will keep you posted.

As the New Year gets underway I will definitely keep all Favorite Fab Followers informed of ALL
The Adventures of SingleNFabulous...

NYE 2012…New Year…New Me!

Hey Beautiful People,

Happy New Year!

It is officially 2013 and I am looking forward to making things happen this year. No New Year Resolutions just major changes that are in MY best interest. I'm looking forward to Reinventing Myself. Don't ask me what that looks like because I don't know yet, LOL, it just sounded good when I wrote it, Lmao!

Last Blog post....I told you I was trying to get into something for New Years...What better way to ring in 2013 than with comedian Kevin Hart's "Let Me Explain" Tour at the Staples Center. I am so glad my sister and I decided to go because I refused to be home alone with my dog, AGAIN! To her defense she was only 4 months old and nothing could keep me away from my puppy then. But I had to end 2012 with a Bang so that I can start 2013 off RIGHT!

First on the agenda…LA LIVE...Drinks at 8pm with the Ladies at WP24 Restaurant and Lounge by Wolf Gang Puck in the Ritz-Carlton Hotel. This is a pretty cool spot…I loved the ambiance! The view from the 24th Floor was beautiful, the drinks were delicious and our waitress was very nice! Lemon drop shots and Gummy Bear drinks were in full swing! I got a nice little buzz and I was feeling great! Of course, before we departed the lounge, we had to meet THE awkward white boy who heard us having a good time and tried to converse with us (yes that's how you say the word...it is not conversate, lol) and get US to buy HIM a drink! Really??? You ain't slick! Didn't your boys school you on how this works before you came out on NYE. You are suppose to buy US drinks Helllooo! I don't know where he came from...but we left him there, LOL. Unfortunately, that was the most action we got that night...maybe next time! Thanks Timika for taking all the paparazzi photos with your super cool Galaxy S III phone - my damn iphone does not take good pictures :(

Girls Night Out at WP24 Lounge

Walked over to the Staples Center and got comfortable in (Section 112, Row 9, Seat 5) Up Close and Personal. Why is it we always have to sit by the "ghetto folks" that have to laugh Loud, Really?? He’s funny but not that funny!

I don’t know if it was because it was my first time seeing Kevin Hart Live or if it’s because I was tipsy but he was HILARIOUS! I enjoyed every minute of  his show. We weren’t allowed to use are cell phones or I would have posted some pics….because they were taping the show…probably for an HBO Comedy special that will be out in about a month or soJ, so be patient. You know colored folk was getting in trouble left and right. Every time you turned around someone was getting a flashlight in their face. That indicates put your phone away or get Kicked Out the Staple Center. Allegedly people were thrown out but I have no evidence of that really happening, Lol. My sister Keesha said people are so addicted to social media that they can't even put their phones down for one minute! She has a point...I may be one of those people, LOL.

5, 4, 3, 2, 1.... 2013 in the Building!!! Unfortunately, we couldn’t find an After Party that we could CRASH afterwards. It’s NYE and we knew every place would be packed. I just wished there was a spot we knew about In Advance that we could have just showed up to and got the party crackin’ LOL. But no such luck. We would have gone to Bossa Nova to eat but my sister and I weren’t impressed with the cuisine the last time we were there so that didn’t happen. Maybe we need to go again and give them a 2nd chance, hmmm, I will think about it.

Overall my New Year’s Eve Night Out was great and I am so happy that I was able to get out, dress it up and have a good time.
I HAVE to get out MORE! The Weather has changed and I pray that there is no more rain because I despise working in the rain. However…I LOVE Fall Weather and I have 2 new pair of boots that I want to rock in the very near future...pictures coming soon!

P.S. I am putting it in the Universe that the Lord will be Blessing me with a new position at work Very Soon…and hopefully it will involve a change in my work hours giving me a Social Life Again!!! (Girl, GET YO LIFE... damn Tamar Braxton).

So Stay Tuned...The Adventures of SingleNFabulous in the Future
will consist of Me and My Clique getting into as much trouble as possible…
(I have to recruit some peeps for that too! LOL)

Merry Christmas

Hey Beautiful people,

Merry Christmas Everyone!

Who can deny a holiday that has a Christmas tree,
Christmas lights,
Christmas presents,
Christmas carols,
Christmas music by The Temptations & Nat King Cole,
Christmas dinner and
Quality time with the family!

Christmas is my favorite Holiday as it is the birth of Christ. Since we can't give him our gifts personally...I love that We have a Santa Claus for the children and they receive HIS presents instead. I also love that I get to go shopping and pose as Santa's Little Helper!

Now people take note - Our economy is not at its best and I know that times can be hard on parents and relatives so please remember that it's not about quantity but Quality.... and it is the thought that counts!  If you don't teach your children to be grateful for what they have you will regret it later, LOL, trust me!

Please believe me when I say...No matter how much I complain I'm so thankful for my FAMILY, Good Friends, my puppy Bailey and the BLESSED LIFE I have.

The Adventures of SingleNFabulous will continue in 2013...so Stay Tuned!
You know I have to get into some type of Shenanigans come New Year's Eve ;) Smooches

Woman's Intuition

Hi Beautiful People,
Unfortunately, I've struggled to write this particular installment of my blog as I've had the hardest time trying to find the "right" words.

For the past month I've had the pleasure of having some free time to myself and the rare opportunity to reconnect with an old friend. We went out on a few dates and I had a good time. I thought I was getting to know this person all over again thinking that giving someone a second chance - things would be different....unfortunately this was not the case. Things did not work out the first time because I was in an emotionally unhealthy situation that I put myself in.....I wasn't getting what I needed and I was settling..... so I chose to cut ties with this person. But overall there was no love lost between us.

Sidebar - When you move on with your life and make new memories you forget what you've experienced in the past.
But it only took 1 small observation to help the past memories come flooding back. Then I picked up on more things that just did not sit right with me. I've never experienced so many "red flags" with one man! Ladies you have to trust your gut when it comes to putting yourself in a situation where you know in your heart something is not right. We have to also be very careful because a man can talk his way right back into your life. But I've learned by personal experience that Actions speak Louder than Words. Because my "gut feeling" is so Strong.....once AGAIN I have to separate myself from him. As much as I wanted this situation to blossom into a relationship the second time around...it's very clear to me that it just isn't meant to be :(
On a more positive note - I've been enjoying myself  reuniting with my old classmates of Morningside High School to plan Fundraising events for our 20 Year High School Reunion. I also had fun at the Trey Songz Concert and enjoyed the opening acts Elle Varner and Miguel as well as Trey's Special Guests - Lupe Fiasco and Fabolous!

So needless to say The Adventures of SingleNFabulous must go on!
Hopefully, I will have more eventful activities to report to you very soon!

Until then.....Smooches

When You Least Expect It

Hi Beautiful People,

He and I have History and we have known each other for 5 years. When we first met the relationship was "intense" with no parameters in place...not the best way to start out... when you are looking for a monogomous relationship (me) but because (he) was not ready to settle down yet (this was my perception) as a result we ended up going our separate ways.

It recently started with a random phone call from him out of nowhere. Communication between us has never been a problem. We've both been honest with each other since day 1. No one misled the other and we've always been cool.

That one random act has progressed to casual conversation and one night led to an improptu meeting after the Long Beach Jazz Festival. I enjoyed every minute of it!

We've seen each other in passing conveniently at public events and have always made empty promises to hang out. We've never lost contact...we just pick up where we left off.

One Sunday night I get an invitation to dinner.  I don't know how long its been since I went on an actual date. It was fun and relaxing. We reminisced about the old memories from when we first met and conversed about the new things that had changed in our lives. Sounds like someone has matured and been through some rough times in his own past relationships. But now he is interested in something more stable and drama free. (In my mind - Well then...I'm Your Girl :) I'm interested in dating this man but I'm cautious about what I'm signing up for.

We've hung out at the house just relaxing and he's assured me there is no pressure this time around. I think we've both grown patient and it appears he is not in a hurry to make any more mistakes but is eager to show that he has good intentions... I'm impressed.

There was a second date and we went out to dinner again and an after party...I had a great time. I can get use to this ;)

Don't take your Mental Health for Granted...

Hi Beautiful People,

I wrote this Blog at 7am because I couldn't sleep. I've recently come to the realization that you are only a victim as long as you choose to be (this does not apply to all situations, i.e. domestic violence, criminal acts, etc.) If you have control over your life and can make decisions for yourself then you have all the POWER to do what is best for you.

Happy Birthday Taunya!
Too often do we put the needs of ourselves on the back burner and put the needs of others first. This can easily be relevant in our day to day work environment, personal relationships and interactions with family and friends. But what we don't realize is that if YOU are not healthy-mentally, emotionally or physically - you are in no position to HELP anyone else!

Reflecting back on Me - I think it's safe to say that I've always consider myself a strong person. My mom and dad have always taught me to say what's on my mind (respectfully), fight for my rights (personal and political), try not to let anyone take advantage of me and take care of myself first. Well these principles are not always easy to live by.

It came to a point where I was very unhappy in my day to day life and it began to take a toll on me emotionally and physically. When my sisters said "We need an Intervention for Resheda" I knew I had a problem, Lol. At this point I knew I had let things get out of my control. So now I've decided to be proactive rather than reactive. It is very easy to complain about something but if you fail to do anything about it you are just as guilty of allowing yourself to continue in that situation.

If you want something you have to pursue it (short of stalking someone...ppl).
If you have dreams you need to do the research on how to achieve it.
If you have a goal (short or long term) you need to figure out how to reach it.

I've always known that nothing is ever handed to us and "with no struggle, there is no progress", however I recently learned that if we continue to be "content" in our current situation it will continue to be that....our only option.

I finally became tired of being taken advantage of and have come to the conclusion that if I'm going to make things happen in my life I have to be assertive and do it MY WAY, lol.

I tried it your way and that shit ain't working for me anymore! Good advice from a Good friend (thanks Taunya) I'm doing what's in the best interest of ME and I'm doing it Stress Free!

So now I have this rare opportunity to get the ball rolling on my own personal projects in a short amount of "stress free time" that has been given to me...and I thank The Lord that he's given me this opportunity....as I believe everything happens for a reason.

So let the Games begin....No Excuses!
SingleNFabulous is STILL Single...and on a New Mission

P.S. - My latest Adventures have included local Sports Bar, Sunday Brunch, Church, The Taste of Soul, Taunya's 40th Birthday Party and still no such luck in the Dating Department... Although there might be this 1 particular guy with potential in my future....To Be Continued.... :)
