MLK, 3 Day Weekend – MONDAY, Part III

Hey Beautiful People,

Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Observed

Although I am sad that I was unable to go to Washington, D.C. this year to witness the 2nd Presidential Inauguration I opted to watch it on TV and I loved seeing My President Barack Obama & First Lady Michelle Obama strolling the streets of D.C. waving and showing much love to the American people who voted for them!

POTUS & FLOTUS

Monday Night -
Ladies Night Out at LA LIVE!

After using Sunday night and most of Monday to re-cooperate from all the fun I had the 2 days before I was ready to get the party started again! It’s been awhile since I’ve gone out to enjoy Happy Hour so I got together with some of my girls and our 1st Stop was The Yardhouse. We were having a good time, 2 alcoholic beverages done and full of delicious and affordable appetizers but I noticed there were NO potential men at the Bar, Really? Then Why are We Here???

Next stop Lucky Strikes let's see what's going over there I heard they have a DJ. Uh no....sounded like some random XM radio to me. The music was okay, however we lucked up on a cool little couch section and made it right on time to buy drinks at the end of their Happy Hour. On top of that we were given FREE nachos from the nice women sitting next to us because their order came too late and they didn’t want to be late to their Lady Gaga concert!I was observing the scenery and once again No potential men! WTH? Well this Sucks! Why is it so card to go to a cool spot and have some good conversation with the opposite sex???

Well hell WE are at LA Live lets go patrol some other so called Hot Spots. WP24, Mixology and ION Rooftop bar….All were Quiet! What is going on...I thought Monday night Happy Hour would be jumping somewhere! Now they may be potential spots for my Birthday Gathering in March but they were DEAD as far as socializing on a Monday Night.

So here we have 4 beautiful women forced to go home early because we couldn't find
any COOL men to engage in good conversation, Boooo!
Now if this wasn’t an attempt at us trying to get out, have some fun and meet new people!!!....
I don’t know what is!!!
Maybe we will have better luck next time!

Did I mention I was Cute!...well at least my Booties were....but they Hurt Like Hell, LOL.
The Sacrifices I make for my guilty pleasures!

Next up on the Agenda...Superbowl Sunday!!! Now I just have to find out where I'm going????
Any Suggestions???
Finding a HOT SPOT is always hit and miss in L.A....But I will keep you Posted.

MLK, 3 Day Weekend – SUNDAY, Part II

Hey Beautiful People,

Remember from the last Blog Post I went to bed at 2am....Well you know I struggled to get up Sunday morning as EVERYONE knows I am not a morning person J.
But my sister helped put the finishing touches on my make-up
and kicked me out the house. I made a pit stop at Starbucks and ordered my
tall cinnamon dolce latte and a “morning bun” snack
and was on the road by 8:30am praying that I get to Santa Barbara by 10am!!!
(The invitation said Be On Time…but you know how black folks are ;)

Sunday Day –
Bruce’s Destination Birthday Brunch
@ The Four Seasons Resort - The Biltmore Santa Barbara
If you don’t know my Brother Bruce he is THE MAN and does not play when it comes to planning his Birthday, LOL. He already told me that from his 31st Birthday and on he is planning Destination Getaways Only and Santa Barbara was our First Stop for 2013.

Of Course he picks THE MOST Extravagant & Opulent Hotel in Santa Barbara for Brunch. OMG! The view was gorgeous from where we sat on the outdoor patio, under big beautiful umbrellas with a view of the water and feeling of the cool Pacific Ocean breeze.

Unfortunately because I am on Weight Watchers I was unable to enjoy the All You Can Eat Brunch Buffet but I was amazed at all the choices in food the Resort offered. From your seafood buffet that included lobster, shrimp and grits and caviar (just to name a few) to your delectable deserts that consisted of fruit we did not know the name or origin of, LOL. My plate was simple with eggs benedict, breakfast potatoes and a side of oatmeal. My one guilty pleasure were the “endless” mimosas! I was proud of myself for resisting temptation as my primary goal is to loose this weight before my High School Reunion and keep it OFF!!! Once we finished brunch it was off to Wine Tasting via The Party Bus! Okay I had no idea we were going to be poppin bottles on the party bus….champagne 4 everyone….go on and keep the party going! Bruce’s favorite Playlist of the Day – CIARA! Did he break it down and drop it like it’s HOT on the party bus…yes he DID. Did I expect anything Less…Of course NOT, LOL.
I love me some Bruce and my brother-in-law Davion!

Next stop Reds Wine Bar where we received Free Wine and were welcomed by a Jukebox playing Hip Hop, whaaaat???? It was like they knew we were coming!!! Of Course our group ends up making friends with another group. The “nicest drunk white girls” ever and we ended up celebrating not 1 but 2 Birthday’s at the Bar! Drinks for Everyone! After shutting down the bar it was time to return to LA and bid Santa Barbara Farewell…we will definitely be returning, SOON!!!
My New favorite Boots!!!
As cute as I was.....Did I meet any single men…uh no! Did Resheda travel to another city and socialize outside of her hometown…yes…but still No Love!

After driving 1.5 hours home - half asleep…Try to avoid this if you can… I made it home safe and sound! I was invited to another party that night but I had no energy to bring myself to go.

MLK 3 Day Weekend - Saturday Night, Part I

Hey Beautiful People,

I hope everyone had a GREAT Martin Luther King 3-Day Holiday Weekend….
Because I had a BLAST! This Blog was so long I had to break it down into 3 Parts!
Why you ask???? Because it was THE BEST 3 day weekend I've had so far.... in 2013!

My 20 Year High School Reunion Committee planned a Fundraiser on Saturday Night
“The C/O 93 Alumni Bowling Fundraiser” involving high school rivals
Morningside H.S. vs. Inglewood H.S.
Of Course I couldn’t miss this event so I took the night off from work to participate!

 Saturday Night –
MHS vs. IHS Bowling Fundraiser at El Dorado Lanes.
(L-R) Phoenix, Tabara, Tenisha and Me!

This fundraising event was the GREAT idea of MHS Alumnae and the home girl Ms. Tenisha G.! Surprisingly, MHS c/o 93 Alumni showed up in “full effect” and I was so proud of them for coming out to represent our school. In addition, we had MHS Alumnus Armmond G. fly out from the Bay area with his own bowling balls and shoes to get the competition crackin! We also had out boy Rod Wynn representin MHS Alumni showin Inglewood how it's done! My girl and MHS Alumnae Lashawn F. was holding down the front desk working her butt off collecting the money and hustlin’ the raffle tickets. I did what I do best.....played Paparazzi all night so we can have the photos to show how the C/O 93 Makes It Happen! The rest of the MHS Reunion Committee was on the Lanes rolling STRIKES to make sure we put it down during the competition… and of course WE WON!

Shout Out to ALL MHS and IHS Alumni who came out to
participate and support this event!

SIDE PRIDE !!!
ALL DAY, EVERY DAY!

Miss Lashawn

Now out of all the people that showed up to rep they school Inglewood H.S. had a cutie pie come out and chill with us for a minute. But the guys were so focused on buying drinks they didn’t even notice the women peepin them out! I even lo-key got a picture of him ( I walked up and asked for it) but still I Got No Love! Well I guess it wasn’t meant to be L….I didn’t check for a ring…for all I know he could have been married, LOL. Maybe we will cross paths next time....We still have more fundraisers to plan...You never know!

Sidebar - Of course I didn’t get home until 11:30pm after Bowling night only to stay up even later to pick out my outfit for the next day, pin curl my hair and prepare the camera
so I can get up at 7am to drive to Santa Barbara.
Needless to say I went to bed at 2:00am…Bad Idea!

Fit & Fabulous in 2013

Hi Beautiful People,

First and foremost I'd like to thank all my Fab followers for coming along with me on this ride! I've found that writing this Blog has been very therapeutic for me. I'd like to thank my little sister of - www.Majormusthaves.com for guiding me in this direction!

Unfortunately, since I am STILL Single, LOL, I have to find other things to do in my free time. So...I figured that since I am Single N Fabulous my goal in 2013 is to be Fit and Fabulous too! I'd also like to thank my girl friend Taunya Taylor Fitness (on Facebook) for being so supportive. She's heard all my excuses, has seen me start and then stop and heard me try all the different "loose weight quick" schemes, LOL, but through all of that she still encourages me to find what works for me! She just started a Team Beachbody Reset program that I wish I could do but I can't make the commitment yet because of my work schedule and budget...but this is not to say I won't be ready in the near future! Has anyone noticed that Eating healthy is Expensive???!!!

At first I was going to try Eating Clean and then realized that, that lifestyle is Waaaay out of my league, LOL. So I've committed to Weight Watchers instead because I am not happy with THIS Body! ;)

Please understand that I am doing this for ME!

Since I don't have any children my guilty pleasure is Shopping!! However, if I can't fit into a pair of tight jeans or cute top that I like, WE (me, myself and I) have a Problem! Since I began to notice  my clothes were starting to feel tight, and I REFUSE to buy larger sizes, loosing weight became my Only Option!!! I also received my Victoria Secret 2013 Swimsuit Catalog in the mail and can you say Motivation! I'm trying to look like one of those Skinny Bitches but with Curves, Lmao!

What convinced me to join Weight Watchers (WW) was a friend at work who stated she was doing great on the weight loss program and mentioned what helped her a lot was the iPhone app. WHAAAT? They have an APP?? That's all you had to say!!! Conveniently, I get a WW's flyer in the mail right before the new year and they had a special going with no sign-up fee. I  registered for the online program and paid three months in advance. I thought this was a great deal and what better time to make a committment then right before the New Year! Now all I have to do is be CONSISTENT! My goal is to cook as many simple meals as possible. Translation - my twin sis Keesha will be "burning" in the kitchen, lol, because I'm always at work...thank goodness we have different work schedules :p. Then I need to have as many fruit and veggie snacks on me at all times. Now drinking a lot of water is going to be the hard part.  I will try to drink as much water as I can before I go to work because there is nothing like a social worker in the field trying to investigate on a full bladder. You try finding a "decent" bathroom at 2:00am in the morning...it ain't cute or comfortable, lol. Lastly, temptations are going to be the most difficult. I haven't been able to give up on sweets all together so what I've been doing is accepting very small pieces of cake or ice cream just to satisfy that craving.

I'm so proud of ME! I never thought I would be able to do it. But the Point System helps because you become extremely aware of what you are eating and how many points it's worth so that you stay within the points allowed for the day. I've never been so motivated until now. I needed some form of structure and guidance and I finally found something that works for me!

Now lets talk, The Kanye West Workout Plan!
I have a membership at one of the best Gym's Ever - UFC baby

Part of me goes because the Instructors are so supportive; they want you to loose weight; they want to see you reach your goal and they genuinely LOVE their jobs! The other part of me loves looking at the Men training to fight in the Muay Thai and Kick Boxing Classes. I know there are some FINE men at my gym but I just haven't met them yet ;)

My Fabulous UFC - Zumba Instructor Mychele!!! This is what I have to look forward to when I go to the GYM. She helps me burn MAD calories in 2 classes on Sunday's - Hot Fusion (old school    hip hop class) and Zumba!!! I will be adding a U-JAM class in the near future. I have no reason NOT to be skinny!!! See her "Live and In Living Color" at www.get2werk.com

I'm also going to start walking/hiking with friends to get out and exercise more. Thanks Timika for taking me to my first Trail at Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook in Culver City!
But remember baby steps...I ain't Flo Jo (R.I.P.)... My body aint what it use to be! When I graduate to the Advanced trails I will call my girls Ashley and Sam and they will guide me through those Beautiful Hills & Mountains!

Now all I have to do is figure out how to stay Consistent with my crazy work schedule! No Excuses in 2013! I will keep you posted.

As the New Year gets underway I will definitely keep all Favorite Fab Followers informed of ALL

NYE 2012…New Year…New Me!

Hey Beautiful People,

Happy New Year!

It is officially 2013 and I am looking forward to making things happen this year. No New Year Resolutions just major changes that are in MY best interest. I'm looking forward to Reinventing Myself. Don't ask me what that looks like because I don't know yet, LOL, it just sounded good when I wrote it, Lmao!

Last Blog post....I told you I was trying to get into something for New Years...What better way to ring in 2013 than with comedian Kevin Hart's "Let Me Explain" Tour at the Staples Center. I am so glad my sister and I decided to go because I refused to be home alone with my dog, AGAIN! To her defense she was only 4 months old and nothing could keep me away from my puppy then. But I had to end 2012 with a Bang so that I can start 2013 off RIGHT!

First on the agenda…LA LIVE...Drinks at 8pm with the Ladies at WP24 Restaurant and Lounge by Wolf Gang Puck in the Ritz-Carlton Hotel. This is a pretty cool spot…I loved the ambiance! The view from the 24th Floor was beautiful, the drinks were delicious and our waitress was very nice! Lemon drop shots and Gummy Bear drinks were in full swing! I got a nice little buzz and I was feeling great! Of course, before we departed the lounge, we had to meet THE awkward white boy who heard us having a good time and tried to converse with us (yes that's how you say the word...it is not conversate, lol) and get US to buy HIM a drink! Really??? You ain't slick! Didn't your boys school you on how this works before you came out on NYE. You are suppose to buy US drinks Helllooo! I don't know where he came from...but we left him there, LOL. Unfortunately, that was the most action we got that night...maybe next time! Thanks Timika for taking all the paparazzi photos with your super cool Galaxy S III phone - my damn iphone does not take good pictures :(

Girls Night Out at WP24 Lounge

Walked over to the Staples Center and got comfortable in (Section 112, Row 9, Seat 5) Up Close and Personal. Why is it we always have to sit by the "ghetto folks" that have to laugh Loud, Really?? He’s funny but not that funny!

I don’t know if it was because it was my first time seeing Kevin Hart Live or if it’s because I was tipsy but he was HILARIOUS! I enjoyed every minute of  his show. We weren’t allowed to use are cell phones or I would have posted some pics….because they were taping the show…probably for an HBO Comedy special that will be out in about a month or soJ, so be patient. You know colored folk was getting in trouble left and right. Every time you turned around someone was getting a flashlight in their face. That indicates put your phone away or get Kicked Out the Staple Center. Allegedly people were thrown out but I have no evidence of that really happening, Lol. My sister Keesha said people are so addicted to social media that they can't even put their phones down for one minute! She has a point...I may be one of those people, LOL.

5, 4, 3, 2, 1.... 2013 in the Building!!! Unfortunately, we couldn’t find an After Party that we could CRASH afterwards. It’s NYE and we knew every place would be packed. I just wished there was a spot we knew about In Advance that we could have just showed up to and got the party crackin’ LOL. But no such luck. We would have gone to Bossa Nova to eat but my sister and I weren’t impressed with the cuisine the last time we were there so that didn’t happen. Maybe we need to go again and give them a 2nd chance, hmmm, I will think about it.

Overall my New Year’s Eve Night Out was great and I am so happy that I was able to get out, dress it up and have a good time.
I HAVE to get out MORE! The Weather has changed and I pray that there is no more rain because I despise working in the rain. However…I LOVE Fall Weather and I have 2 new pair of boots that I want to rock in the very near future...pictures coming soon!

P.S. I am putting it in the Universe that the Lord will be Blessing me with a new position at work Very Soon…and hopefully it will involve a change in my work hours giving me a Social Life Again!!! (Girl, GET YO LIFE... damn Tamar Braxton).

So Stay Tuned...The Adventures of SingleNFabulous in the Future
will consist of Me and My Clique getting into as much trouble as possible…
(I have to recruit some peeps for that too! LOL)
Smooches!
